I know you are going crazy with all the school closings and rest assured so am I!! A few snow days are always exciting but believe me when I say all the teachers are yelling "ENOUGH!" It is very difficult to get any type of real learning going when the schedule is full of starts and stops. Then to top it off, on the days we have been open, there has been a terrible flu bug going through our class that has led to poor attendance. I really do LOVE winter, but I'm throwing in the towel this year.
Having said that, I want you to know that we are going ahead with our field trip plans and Valentine's Party for Friday. I am just going to assume they will have all the power issues settled by then.
Here is what you need to know:
Where: Detroit Children's Museum
When: Friday, February 14, 2014
Time: 9:30 a.m.
Permission Slips - If you have not returned a signed permission slip by Friday morning, your child will be left behind at school. I will not be making phone calls the day of the trip to try and get permission. There just isn't enough time for that. I have made arrangements for students without permission to visit another class for the morning. If you need another permission slip, you can print one here: Click here for Permission Slip
On TIME - Students must be on time Friday. We will be cleaning up breakfast at 9:15 SHARP! The bus leaves at 9:30. If your child comes late he will not get breakfast or yikes! may miss the bus altogether.
LUNCH - Students do NOT need to bring a lunch unless they usually do. We are supposed to return to school by lunch time so we will eat in the lunchroom during our regularly scheduled time. (12:35)
Uniforms - Student MUST be in uniform. This is not a free dress day.
Parents - There is still room for me to take several parents with us as chaperones. Please send me an email if you wish to attend, or send a note to school with your child. email: [email protected]
Money - The trip is free for your child. It is being paid for by the Science Department with Title I funds. There is no snack bar or gift shop so please DO NOT send money with your child.

Valentine Party -
Friday afternoon we will have a small Valentine Party. Students can bring in a treat to share with the class (35 students) and cards to pass out to classmates. If your child is bringing cards, please be sure there is one for every child, not just a few favorite friends. You can pick up an inexpensive class package at CVS, Target or the Dollar Store. Have your child write THEIR OWN name on the back at home. If you want, they can write each student's name on the outside. Click on the heart picture above to download a list of student names.
Types of Treats that are Acceptable:
Cupcakes
Cookies
Individual packs of chips or pretzels
Drink boxes
wrapped candy.

Spelling Test
There will be no spelling test this Friday. We just haven't been in school enough this week to prepare and give students a fair chance. We will repeat the same list of words that focus on the sound -ar the week return from Winter Break.
